blvd Edgar Quinet & rue Froidevaux, 14e
Paris
This 1,800-acre cemetery was formed by commandeering three farms in 1824. As with much of the Left Bank, the Montparnasse cemetery scores highly for literary credibility: Samuel Beckett, Charles Baudelaire, Sartre, de Beauvoir and Maupassant all repose here, as do Serge Gainsbourg and actress Jean Seberg.
